July 22, 2008

"We've got spirit, yes we do!  We've got spirit, how 'bout you?!"  That is all the staff heard tonight before the worship service.  The heat nor the long day slowed down these kids' desire for the coveted spirit stick.  But at the end of the day, the Green Team from South Cliff Baptist Church were the ones who earned the right to hoist the biggest spirit stick yet over their heads.

After a morning message from Van, in which the campers studied Matthew, chapter 5, the afternoon kicked off with blobb-
ing, sliding and of course, rec games.  Rec consisted of Wet 'n Wild water games, horseback riding, slingshot alley and making bracelets at arts and crafts.

Following an awesome dinner of tacos (seriously, they were really good), our praise band led a wonderful time of worship and Van again spoke to all the campers.  This was the most special part of the day.  Van taught the campers the way God wants Christians to live their lives.  He explained that God wants an active relationship with them; that they are to continually be growing in Christ, doing what He wants them to do and living with active faith.  One of the verses he shared was Philippians 2:23, "For it is God wh
o works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose."

Thank you for all you prayers.  Please continue to pray for your campers, their
counselors, our staff and the ranch.

Prayer Updates-July 22, 2008

Campers Please pray that the Lord will grab a hold of each camper's attention and chase away any distractions when Van brings the message tonight. Pray that the Lord will give each of them courage and determination to follow Him this week.

Camp Staff Please pray that God will continue to fill us with the excitement that we have had all summer, as well as with energy each day to finish the summer out strongly.

Praise to God! Lindee Meeker, our assistant camp administrator, is no longer sick and she is back with us!

The high was a 103 yesterday, but that did not stop the fun. After the Welcoming Ceremony, the afternoon was filled with rec games like Steal the Bacon, Ultimate Frisbee, Bellball and Spaz. Campers all had a turn to cool off in the pond, and while there, had the chance to blob and be blobbed. The inflatable water slide was a big attraction yesterday, with kids flying into the water one right after the other. After a time of evening worship our speaker, Van Minter, brought the message, explaining how finding Christ is like finding a treasure of the highest value. He explained to the kids that it is something that each person should cherish and seek after.

This morning, the campers will begin their quiet time track for the week. Today they will be challenged to listen when God speaks to them this week and be obedient to Him. Please pray for your campers, that God will open their hearts and minds and give them an attitude of obedience.

For additional prayer requests for your child and camp this week scroll down to July 8. (Please note that our speaker for the week is Van Minter and our praise team is Eddy Walker, Eric Todd and Jared Huckabee.)

Prayer Requests-Posted July 8, 2008

This week, there are many things we can all be praying about and people we can be praying for.

Campers Pray that God will continually reveal Himself to them. Ask that all distractions be taken away from each child as He works in their hearts. Please pray for their health and safety. Pray that God will give them courage and desire to respond to Him.

Wayne Slay He is our speaker this week. Pray that God will give him words to say and speak through him. Pray for the Lord's blessings on him for joining us this week and telling these children about the love of Jesus Christ.

Seth Slay, Jake Davis, and Kurtis Smith They are our praise band and worship leaders this week. Thank God and ask for blessings on them for providing an outlet for all of us here to worship the Lord. Ask that God will use them and the worship time that they provide as a tool to speak to everyone here, especially the campers.

Staff Pray that God will use all of the staff as another tool to show His love and teach them about a servant's heart. Pray that the staff continues to grow along with the campers this week, that God will speak to each of us. Please pray for our health and safety.

*Lindee Meeker She is our assistant camp administrator and a vital part of the operation of our camp team and the ranch. Lindee has fallen ill this week and had to leave camp. Please pray that God will comfort her while she is sick and heal her quickly. Please also pray that God will provide extra help here at the ranch in her absence.

Sabine Creek Ranch Pray that God will continue to use this ranch as a place for children to come and learn about Christ, and that we will continue to do His will here.

Howdy! The second week of The Journey has begun here at Sabine Creek Ranch, with a whole new group of campers. The schedule was the same as it was last Monday, but with another group of kids for God to speak to, the experiences have been unique and the outcomes different for each camper so far.
The day started out with our welcoming ceremony and presentation of the spirit stick. After lunch, it was an exciting day of rec, filled with three ball, ultimate frisbee, flickerball and blobbing at the pond.
Worship was a particularly special time last night, as Wayne Slay, our speaker for the week, explained the depth God's love for each of us and His desire for us to have a personal relationship with Him. After worship, the campers headed out in their color groups to either a special time at the campfire, arena games, or on a hay ride
around the ranch. Be sure to ask your campers when they get home about these activities!
Each child will have a quiet time when he or she will be challenged to be obedient to God this week as He speaks to them. Please pray that God will open your campers' hearts and minds to Him and give them an obedient heart.

Journey Camp Video Week 1

July 3, 2008

Last Day of camp :(
But it was a great week and many people came to know Christ as their personal savior for the first time. Worship was great the last night and you could really tell that the kids were singing to Christ
The kids had a great time with the games they played yesterday and they got to ride horses!
The green team and the Blue 1 team tied for the most spirited groups so they both got to take home spirit sticks!
It was a great Week at SCR and we cannot wait to see yall again next summer!
Don't forget to keep growing with God and see where he takes you!

Yesterday was an Awesome Day at Journey Pre-teen Camp!

Kids got to do Archery and BB's, the blob, play wet-n-wild, and steal the bacon.

God is doing amazing work here at Sabine this week so please continue to pray for salvation and growth for these campers.

July 1, 2008

At 1:00 pm yesterday the buses rolled into Sabine Creek Ranch, kids hanging out the windows, ready for the blob, the horses, rec games, and everything else they've been hearing about for weeks. Our band, speaker and camp staff were ready for all the campers.

After the welcoming ceremony and introduction of the Spirit Stick, the campers poured out of the worship center for an afternoon full of activities. At Rec Roundup campers played flickerball, ultimate frisbee, and something called ultimate football that only our head rec guy, Matt, could come up with or explain. Campers also got the chance to shoot BB guns (at targets, not each other) and make leather bracelets under the Crafts tent with a few of our awesome staff members. And of course, campers visited the pond and played on one of Sabine Creek's most popular attractions - the blob. (One camper tentatively jumps onto one end of this over-sized bag of air while his or her friend simultaneously flies off the other end.) Pond-goers were also able to slide down our brand new inflatable slide, generously donated by many of the churches that attend and host camps here at the ranch.

After the day's activities were over and campers had filled their stomachs with yummy lasagna, worship began. Seth Slay and his talented band led the camp in an incredible time of worship, followed by Seth's father, Wayne Slay, who brought us the message.

The Journey has begun, and God is at work here at Sabine Creek Ranch this week. Quiet time today focuses on asking God to teach us and the campers His way. We are challenging them to make the choice to listen to Him, and follow in His truth. Please pray for your camper today that God will open up his or her heart and mind to His Word and His way, and that they may be obedient.

Stay tuned for more updates as The Journey continues!
